Message from Dale Chief Nurse Executive & Vice President of Patient Care Services August 26, 2021
I encourage you all to take a moment to thank your unit coordinators for their commitment to ensuring that the units are running smoothly, their positivity, and for all of their contributions to promoting a healthy work environment and addressing the needs of our patients.
This week is National Health Unit Coordinator Recognition Week, from August 23 through 29th. Today, we recognize unit coordinators, previously known as “hospital secretaries,” or “ward clerks,” for their professionalism, care coordination, and partnership.
Thank you to all of the managers, leaders, and SLC- thank you for submitting your photos and written notes of praise.
SHC’s Unit coordinators are valuable professionals who are often the “face of the unit” as the first person families and visitors see when they arrive on the units. When I round throughout the hospital, I value the warm welcome I receive from these important team members who make a difference in everyone they come in contact with- our patients, their families, visitors, our nurses, and our interprofessional colleagues. I deeply appreciate our unit secretaries as integral healthcare partners and all of their support for SHC’s culture of excellence. Thank you for all that you do.
With respect and admiration,
Dale Beatty, DNP, RN, NEA-BC
Chief Nurse Executive and VP of Patient Care Services
