On Monday and Tuesday this past week (March 26 & 27), a collaboration of 8 bay area hospitals including Stanford Health Care and Stanford Children’s Health hosted Healthcare Con, an interdisciplinary conference showcasing the latest research, innovations, improvements and education in patient care. With more than 300 attendees, this two-day conference featured over 36 podium presentations, 48 poster presentations, 11 educational sessions with guest lectures and two keynote addresses by Linda Aiken, PhD, FAAN, FRCN, RN & Sue Hassmiller, PhD, RN, FAAN. Linda Aiken is world renowned for her health policy and health services research and has been inducted into the International Nurse Researcher’s Hall of Fame by Sigma Theta Tau. She’s most widely known for her research regarding the impact of nursing on patient outcomes. Sue Hassmiller directs the Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action-a 50-state initiative to enact the IOM’s Future of Nursing report-and is also the senior adviser for nursing for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
